Biography

I am departing from the traditional approach in writing a biography that lists a series of places, careers, and achievements; instead, I would like to speak of a journey I took in my teens and where it landed me. I chose to leave my homeland and moved to a country I knew nothing about, with a language I could not speak. I made it my home and have never looked back.

My biography is about making choices and surviving challenges. I defied the monotony and chose architecture knowing no two clients would ever be the same, or two projects ever alike. I chose poetry so I could have the right to new perceptions. I chose writing to become those I could never be. I chose drawing and painting to change my world from constancy. Lastly, I chose botany to return to my childhood, and remember endearing memories and hopefully in the process, preserve and explore some of the plant species that rooted me to my past. It is this journey that reminds me where I came from and where I need to go….
